How long is our session?
Sessions run 45 minutes to 3 hours, depending upon the setting, the number of individuals, and the type of session. The best photographs evolve throughout the session, so it's best if there are no time limits.
What should we wear?
For newborns, bare skin is best. I recommend you bring an extra solid white onesie, as it will compliment bright colorful blankets. For older babies, hats and diaper covers are a sweet addition.
For children, it's best to choose something that they are comfortable in - even if its a cowboy hat & boots! Bright colors, baby legs/leg warmers/tights, hats, hairbows, tutus, and bloomers look adorable. Layering looks nice on big kids and don’t be afraid of fun polka dots, florals or even stripes (in small doses). Barefoot looks sweet for this age group as well.
For families, some might disagree but I really think complimenting each other versus matching each other is key! How many pictures have you seen with everyone wearing white shirts and khakis? For a more modern, colorful approach try these combinations or a variation of:
- Primary colors like red, yellow, blue and green mixed in with denim
- Jewel tones like deep purple, crimson, navy, emerald green and gold
- Navy with a pop of color like bright yellow or orange
- Coral/Salmon really stands out in green grass
Avoid bright, busy patterns that take away from the beauty of your faces. Light colors look more casual and contemporary while dark tones tend to be more dramatic.
For couple/engagement sessions, the sky is the limit. You can bring a couple clothing changes. I always recommend something bright and fun, something black, a fun dress and accessories for girls. Layering looks really nice (think cardigan over a sweet sundress or a fitted jacket paired with nice jeans or a dress.) Scarves, hats, and fun shoes complete the look. Guys photograph well in darker denim, button downs, sport coats and anything that defines their style (hats, a funky belt, sports jersey, etc.)
What can I bring to the session?
Feel free to bring your own props, balloons, quilt, rubber boots, umbrella, toy, favorite blanket, stuffed animal, book, hat, jacket, musical instrument, or sporting gear to personalize your photos. If something is meaningful to you, by all means, bring it! (For example, if your first date was at Starbucks, bring a starbucks cup with a love note written on it.)
How do we pay?
Payment is due at time of the session. I accept cash only.
When will our pictures be ready?
The turn-around time is 2 weeks, if not sooner.
How do we view our images?
I won't be posting all of your images on my blog, just a few of my favorites. Each client receives a cd containing all edited high-resolution digital files. When you receive your cd, you will be able to view all your images and print at the photo lab of your choice.
Where is the photo session?
I have found that everyone is most comfortable in a place they love to be - whether it be at home, the park, or downtown. A couple different locations gives your photographs some variety.
What if I need to reschedule?
If for some reason you need to cancel an appointment, please try to contact me at least 24 hours prior to your session. I will be glad to reschedule your appointment. I understand that children get sick quickly, unexpected things come up, the weather can be nasty, etc. so don't worry!
